Since 2004 we have been working with the Massachusetts Division of Insurance to introduce a state-wide insurance discount for our Crash Prevention 101 (CP101) training. The first stumbling block was finding a state agency to regulate our training. In the summer of 2006 the Registry of Motor Vehicles was authorized to promulgate regulations pertaining to Crash Prevention Training. After working with the RMV for almost a year, In Control was certified as Massachusetts' 1st Driver Skills Development Program in the summer of 2007.

In the years it took to put this certification in place, some significant changes in the Massachusetts insurance industry occurred. Prior to April 1, 2008 all rates for auto policies were set by the Division of Insurance, but that has now changed.

Going forward, each Massachusetts carrier will be setting their own rates and determining their own discounts. As a result, carriers representing approximately 85% of the market are now offering discounts between 5% and 10% for graduates of our program.

Many of these discounts are available to auto policy holders regardless of how much driving experience they have.

We continue to work with more Massachusetts carriers and hope that those not already offering discounts will respond to requests by their clients soon.

We highly recommend you consult your auto insurance agent with questions about these discounts.

Carriers offering discounts for our Crash Prevention Training graduates are often denoted using the term Advanced Driver Training.

Note:  If you find that your carrier is not offering a discount, do not be afraid to recommend that they do (or have them call us).  In many cases they just need to file some paperwork with the state.  We've even found national companies that offered discounts in other states, but had not filed the necessary Massachusetts' paperwork yet.
