Pricing:
All Massachusetts Communities may apply for at least $20,000 in funding. While it’s a competitive grant process, they have stressed that they are prioritizing non-enforcement grants. Here’s the breakdown (if you do not know your Tier Level click here to look it up):
Community Visits - As described, a day of vehicle instruction (typically 6-7hrs on site) where students or community members ride along with us in a series of drills. Focus is on avoiding impairments (including distractions), increasing seatbelt use, and reducing speeds. Pricing includes coordination with school(s), police, community and any media you wish to include. In Control will supply vehicles, instructors and supplies needed for each day.
Kids Speaking Up for Road Safety- As described, lesson plan created for 2nd-6th grade students to give kids in the backseat the tools to respectfully and effectively speak up if their driver is distracted. Safe Roads Alliance will work with 1+ elementary/middle schools so that they can present the material in their own classrooms.
Crash Prevention 101- This is the ½ day closed course, hands-on program offered to drivers of all ages across Massachusetts. Graduates qualify for significant insurance discounts and are far less likely to crash regardless of driving experience. Your department is encouraged to award vouchers and have participants work training into their own schedule, but pricing is the same if you wish to organize groups. Non-discounted pricing is $350 per.
If you’d like recent feedback from participating communities, (post pandemic) Kids Speaking Up and Community Visits have taken place at Westfield, Methuen and Medford Schools. Kids Speaking Up has also been established in Worcester, Sudbury, Longmeadow, and Somerville. Prior to the pandemic In Control has done Community Visits in dozens of cities/towns across MA and has offered Crash Prevention Training 101 for 20+ years in New England.
