The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research provides grants to communities across Massachusetts for Non-Enforcement Safety Activities that specifically include our programs.

All Massachusetts Communities may apply for at least $20,000 in funding. While it’s a competitive grant process, they have stressed that they are prioritizing non-enforcement grants. Here’s the breakdown (if you do not know your Tier Level click here to look it up):

Law Enforcement Crash Prevention Training

While not available to the general public, the MRS Grant allows for training to help reduce crashes within your department. In Control offers two versions of our training that are used by New England Police Departments regularly.

Our 3/4 Day Law Enforcement Course offers new and experienced police officers an opportunity to improve their skills and focuses on both daily driving safety as well as what’s necessary to safey respond to emergencies.

The course typically uses department vehicles for low-speed drills and In Control vehicles for the more aggressive, higher-speed activities that wear out tires and damage town equipment.

In recent years In Control has started working more regularly with young people entering the police academy. As individuals and through sponsorship from their department, we have been able to help them complete the driving requirements to graduate and join their sponsoring police department.

Safe Roads Alliance and In Control Family Foundation have worked with the Executive Office of Public Safety & Security since 2015 to pilot these programs in dozens of Massachusetts's communities.

Your local police department can directly apply for funds through the MRS Grant program. FY 26/27 Applications were due by June 4, 2026 at 4 pm and awards will be announced in the fall.

Our programs are covered in MRS Grants as Community Awareness and Outreach Activities, and we’re considered consultants in the Allowable Cost Categories. The requirements to apply and fulfill reporting on these grants are drastically easier than enforcement activities. If you typically avoid this grant due to workload, please reconsider.

Here’s the Office of Grants and Research’s website detailing the grant.
